Tottenham's bid to build a new stadium has moved a step closer after an appeal by Archway Sheet Metal Works proved unsuccessful.

The family-run local business, based in Paxton Road, had asked a judge to prevent the "unlawful" compulsory purchase order Tottenham had lodged to continue developing their proposed new stadium.

Mr Justice Dove has ruled there was "no legal flaw" in the order, handing he Premier League side given the go-ahead to now buy the last remaining plot required for their new 56,000-seater home.

The company, positioned near White Hart Lane's north stand, was gutted by a fire in November, with Josif Josif, who runs the business, claiming he had recieved bomb threats due to his reluctance to vacate.

"People were calling us and threatening us and we were receiving bomb threats and that started a few months ago but we don’t know if that’s got anything to do with it," he told reporters at the time.

Spurs hope to complete the €540 million development in time for the start of the 2018-19 season.
